Academics

Students

Students enrolled at the Distance Learning Centre, Ahmadu Bello University have the opportunity to learn from some of the best and brightest in their fields, as our e-Learning courses are taught by the same renowned faculty members who teach in our on-campus programmes.

Faculty

Our erudite faculty is made up of entrepreneurs, consultants, and academics who work with students on an individual basis to create a cooperative and warm learning environment, where human values flourish.

Academic Code

All of our courses are delivered in English. Our programmes are student-oriented, flexible and personalized. We use a combination of classroom theory and hands-on experiential learning that draws on both practices prescribed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and ABU learning methodologies.

The ABU DLC’s pragmatic approach to this programme prepares students for careers in today’s rapidly evolving and globalized business world.

Students must attain a minimum participation score of 75% in all courses they are enrolled in to be seen as qualified to write the semester examinations.

In order to graduate, students must complete their overall program with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 after undertaking available core and specialization courses. In addition, students of ABU DLC must submit and defend a final research project, and complete the internship program.

Assessment of participation in course discussions shall be automatically undertaken by the system, and Teaching Assistants are charged with keeping record of this. The quality of students’ responses to discussion questions and participation in reviewing discussion questions shall constitute the student’s Continuous Assessment which shall be of the same proportion as the corresponding on-campus programme.

Teaching Assistants engaged shall be responsible for the primary scoring of students while the Academic Advisers/Subject Matter Specialists shall supervise the assessment.

Academic honesty is a fundamental value in education. ABU DLC enforces a strict academic ethics code to which all students must adhere to. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to: plagiarism, attempted theft of academic records or examinations and alteration of grades.

Any of these offenses will result in automatic failure of the course and/or expulsion from the programme.
